Demonstrating our generative AI skills to mitigate the risks of insider threats

This year we’ve been busy in the US, firstly opening our first office in the country, in Tampa, Florida, and secondly attending the RSA Conference in San Francisco, where in May we demonstrated our Managed Extended Detection & Response (XDR) service as a guest of the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association (MISA). Our team’s now busy preparing to speak at another major industry event in the US. Next month we’re heading to Black Hat USA in Las Vegas, Nevada.

On August 10th, we’ll be at the MISA Theater in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center to share our latest thinking on applying artificial intelligence (AI) to help solve one of the largest data protection challenges that many organizations face today. Quorum Cyber Solutions Director, Ricky Simpson, will give a presentation titled, ‘Outmaneuver Insider Threats: Generative AI for Risk Mitigation.’

The threat from within

In July, at their two-day partner conference, Microsoft Inspire, Microsoft announced that data breaches from insider threats had jumped by 44% in the past 12 months. What’s more, such breaches take an average of 85 days to mitigate. So, what can businesses do to prevent their own employees from sending company data outside?

Considering that there’s currently a skills shortage of 3.5 million people in the cyber security industry, perhaps it’s even more important that security analysts employ AI tools to level the playing fields with threat actors who have already begun using AI technology to evade defences.

Can AI provide the solution?

In his session, Ricky will explore how generative AI can be applied to user behaviors and business policies to derive actionable insights for mitigating risks. He’ll walk attendees through real-world examples of using natural language processing to analyze activity data from multiple signals and how implementing generative AI within the processes can identify anomalies and patterns indicative of insider threats.

Our presence at Black Hat USA is more evidence that we’re reinforcing our commitment to defending organizations against ever-evolving cyber threats. We will also be attending more events with Microsoft and MISA in the future.

See you in Vegas

Planning to travel to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Vegas? Then pop along to Booth #1740 to hear what Ricky has to say on this subject from 11:00am to 11:20am – we’re sure you’ll find his talk interesting and valuable. If you’d like to discuss data loss prevention (DLP), Information Protection (MIP), Insider Risk Management (IRM), or anything else related to cyber security or data security, Ricky will be more than happy to speak to you. We hope to see you there.
