Published: 14th December 2023 | In: Insights

2023 saw Quorum Cyber expand its headcount to over 225. We recruited skilled professionals in a number of key areas and launched new services.

We also opened offices in the US and London, expanding our customer base in North America and maintaining our growth momentum in the UK. This investment has already started returning value, with the signing of over 20 new managed services customers across the automotive, financial services, information technology, local government, housing, not-for-profit, and retail sectors.

The progress we have made throughout 2023 has laid the foundations for us to meet our ambitious growth targets in the next few years. We continue to aspire to become:

• The leading Microsoft specialist partner in Europe
• One of Microsoft’s top 10 security partners worldwide
• A $1 billion company by the end of 2027 and one of the first (if not the first!) British cyber unicorns.

We’re proud of all we’ve achieved in 2023… but we have no intention of slowing down anytime soon!

“2023 has been a truly momentous year for Quorum Cyber,” says CEO Federico Charosky. “We opened an office in North America, welcomed lots of incredibly talented professionals into our team, expanded our breadth of services, began exciting partnerships with many more organisations around the world, and held our first Summit for the cyber security community. And we’re only just getting started.”

Bolstering teams to better support customers

This year, we added talent to every department across the business to give our customers an even better service. In 2023 we strengthened our senior leadership team with Mark Lawrence, who joined us as Chief Operating Officer (COO), Steven Marandola, as Vice President of Innovation, Paul Vasquez, as Vice President of Alliances & Partnerships, and Rebecca Court, as Marketing Director.

While we remain focused on cyber security, we recruited experts in the fields of compliance, data security, and identity security to complement and support our core service offerings and strengthen our team. Several of our recent joiners have extensive experience working for and with Microsoft, giving us valuable insights and understanding as we develop services to disrupt the market.

In addition, we increased our Security Operations Centre (SOC) team, which runs our Managed Extended Detection and Response (Managed XDR) and Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services, to over 60 people, ensuring it remains the heart of our business.

New services for our customers

We always look ahead to predict and tackle our customers’ problems early. As such, in the last 12 months, we added several new services including Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR), Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM), and Managed Data Security (MDS) to complement our range of managed and professional cyber security services.

We use Microsoft technology and our existing operations and platforms, such as our SOC and our unique customer portal, Clarity, to deliver these services. Clarity combines Microsoft Security with cutting-edge AI to enable customers to interact with our service and stay ahead of the threat. It also allows them to make the most of their investment in Microsoft tools and licences. Demand for data security and insider risk management services is growing as organisations worldwide ramp up their risk reduction strategies.

North American expansion

2023 saw us grow our customer base in North America. We invested significantly in this area by opening an office in Florida, recruiting a Solutions Director (based in California) and three US based Sales Consultants.

As a Microsoft Solutions Partner for Security, Microsoft remains central to everything we do. As such, in December, we recruited a Microsoft Alliance Manager in the US as a counterpart to the position we already have focused on the UK market.

Awards and accolades

In 2023, we reached the finals of several industry awards. Microsoft recognised our achievements over the past year by naming us a finalist in the Security Services Innovator award in the Microsoft Security Excellence Awards, while our founder and CEO, Federico Charosky, was also nominated as a Security Changemaker. We were one of just a handful of companies that were shortlisted for not one, but two categories!

Our People team (the driving force in attracting high-calibre talent on both sides of the Atlantic) were announced as Winners of Best Creative Idea category at the s1jobs Recruitment Awards in June.

A key milestone was our certification as a National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) Assured Service Provider for the NCSC Cyber Incident Response (CIR) Level 2 scheme. We’re now working towards gaining Level 1 which will permit us to step in to defend critical national infrastructure.

In November, we were honoured to be named the winner of the IT Security Provider of the Year category at the British Legal Technology Awards in London for our work protecting legal firm Bird & Bird.

And if that wasn’t enough, we were also listed 59th in the MSSP Alert Top 250 MSSPs (up from 149th in 2022), the MSSP Alert list of top 40 Managed Detection and Response companies, as well as ranking in Enterprise Security Tech Cyber’s Top 20.

Bringing together the cyber security community

In March, we hosted our inaugural Quorum Cyber Summit, a full-day event in the heart of Edinburgh exclusively organised for our customer community. It was attended by scores of our customers, representing dozens of private, public and not-for-profit organisations. The event fostered a strong sense of community spirit among our customers and with our security partner, Microsoft.

We’ll host our second Quorum Cyber Summit (Navigating the Future of Cyber Security Together) in the Scottish capital in March 2024.

Looking ahead to 2024

The new year is almost upon us and we’re ready to achieve even more. While 2023 was undoubtedly a very successful year for Quorum Cyber, we’re only just getting started…

Our first event will be the Threat Intelligence Outlook 2024 webinar. You can now register for the free event on 17th January.
