Quorum Cyber Quiz Night for Good: £200 Raised for MacMillan Cancer Support

With the goal of giving back to community, whilst combatting the blockers to team bonding that lockdown life and remote working can bring, the Quorum Cyber team came together for our first charity quiz night.
Hosted by the wonderful Roaming Quizman (a.k.a. Garry Andrew Mullen), we brought family and friends together for the evening of fun. The winners of the virtual quiz got the star prize of getting to chose which charity all funds raised would be donated to.
Team Fun & Challenges
Testing our expertise and nerdery, the Roaming Quizman brought our teams 8 rounds of questions and activities. Covering everything from Sci-fi and cyberspace, to general knowledge, and pop culture. There was a little something for everyone, with a whole lot of laughs!
The Winner
Each of the 9 teams brought their A-game – as well as a couple of wigs and other costume elements to brighten up the event.
Outstripping the rest with their stellar knowledge and game-screenshot recognition was one stealthy team – The Apprentices! Formed by our own graduate apprentice, Elizabeth, and her classmates from Edinburgh Napier University’s Cybersecurity Graduate Apprentice programme.
The next-gen of cyber is fast on our heels, and boy are we proud!
The Charity
With £100 raised through event registrations, Quorum Cyber matched the amount bringing the donation total £200 by the end of the night.
Our winning team, The Apprentices, selected MacMillan Cancer Support. The donation being made in honour of family members of the team for whom the support of the charity made a significant, positive difference. Gratitude for the work of the MacMillan Cancer Support team lives on in their memory, and the hearts of those who gained more time with loved ones as a result.
June’s Pride Event
For the Quorum Cyber team, coming together for this event made a world of difference. Not only did we get to laugh together and challenge each other in the best of ways, but we also got to give back to the community while we were at it. So, we aim to continue doing more activities like this one, and invite you to join us.
With June being Pride Month, we will be partnering with LGBT Youth Scotland and their #StillProud campaign to host an extra special quiz night event – and you’re all invited!
