Published: 28th August 2020 | In: News

We are delighted to announce Quorum Cyber’s participation in CHAS’ (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland) Summer Fundraising Appeal – Run 100 Raise 100! Throughout September, each team member will be running, jogging, walking and cycling their way to 100Km in support of CHAS, with every penny raised going towards vital funds for children and their families across Scotland.

This year has been incredibly challenging for all of us. We are currently living through times which nobody could have predicted, the word ‘unprecedented’ doesn’t even come close to describing 2020 and the many hardships we have all had to endure.

There just isn’t any getting away from the fact that the current pandemic has had a huge effect on each and every one of us, there is hardly an organisation, or sector, which hasn’t had to completely revaluate their way of thinking and how they deliver their product or service in this strange new normal. There is one sector, however, which has been hit harder than most, and sadly, that is the third sector.

In Scotland, there are around 20,000 registered charities, as well as another 20,000+ voluntary organisations whose main concern is safeguarding and ensuring equality of rights for some of the country’s most vulnerable individuals.

One such charity is CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland), for over twenty years CHAS has been offering a full family support service for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions. As is understandable, the needs and priorities of the children and families using CHAS under the current circumstances are rapidly changing, however, one aspect that has not changed during this time is CHAS’ willingness to do absolutely everything in their power to ensure the children and their families can try and make the most out of the precious time they are given. The pandemic has stolen time away from us all, time that should have been spent with the ones we love. For most of us, we will already be planning ways of making this time back up, sadly though, there are families all across Scotland who will never be able to make this time back with the ones they love most.

At present, CHAS only have enough funding to reach one in three families, and with the mass cancellation of every major large-scale fundraising event in the country, it is now harder than ever for CHAS to reach the other two in three families.

Our group of intrepid adventurers will brave the arduous Scottish elements and will take great pride in the fact that every step forward is in support of one of the worthiest causes we at Quorum Cyber can think of. And what’s even better, the team will be documenting their progress over the course of the month; so, it will feel just like you are there with them!

You can keep up-to-date with how the team are progressing over at the Quorum Cyber Just Giving page.

Remember, you can also find us on Twitter & LinkedIn, we would love to see you there.
