Managed detection and response (MDR) services have been evolving since they first came on the market over ten years ago. Since being founded in 2016, Quorum Cyber has been at the forefront of pushing the boundaries of what an MDR service should achieve for organisations in the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors.

As a Microsoft Solutions Partner for Security, it was the first cyber security specialist in the UK – and one of the first in the world – to develop a Microsoft verified XDR solution.

Today, organisations don’t just want to know they have a collection of “security tools”. They require measurable business-impact: reduced dwell time, fewer breaches, improved compliance, and better board-level reporting. This is why today’s MDR needs to deliver positive outcomes, not features and functions.

Quorum Cyber has moved beyond the basic MDR model of providing 24/7 monitoring, alerting, and triage, and now offers three tiers, or services, of MDR:

  • Clarity Defend: MDR for 24/7 monitoring, detection, and response, 365 days a year, to defend any organisation’s Microsoft Cloud environment from attack
  • Clarity Extend: Enhanced security coverage for the Microsoft Cloud environment and third-party technologies across the entire IT ecosystem
  • Clarity Protect: Advanced detection and response to proactively safeguard and improve a company’s cyber security posture.

By offering three distinct services, we can cater for a broad range of needs and budgets – helping organisations of all sizes to strengthen their cyber security posture and build cyber resilience. Each service is also scalable, so that as businesses expand and change, we can quickly offer the most appropriate protection. At the same time, we ensure that they gain maximum return on investment from their existing Microsoft licences.

Because cybercriminals are ultimately attempting to steal data, we’ve complemented these three services with Clarity Data, a managed data security and data loss prevention (DLP) service designed to safeguard data from external threat actors, insider threats and accidental leakage.

Attackers don’t stand still – our services don’t either

Each of these services is configured to the customer’s business and IT environment. And None of these services is static. That’s because our teams continually optimise and enhance the Microsoft Defender controls, detections, and responses to meet the business’s unique requirements.

Furthermore, we combine automation, machine learning, and human intelligence together to make monitoring, detection, and response more efficient, 24/7, 365 days a year. While we’ve embedded artificial intelligence (AI) into each service to speed up response times and empower cyber security analysts, our MDR services are, and always will be, human led. Only an experienced analyst at the controls can interpret, judge, and apply contextual understanding to every organisation’s unique situation.

Our team members don’t stand still. They are currently investigating how best to use a range of AI tools to help analysts accelerate investigations, quickly zoom in on security incidents, and save huge amounts of time and effort for our customers.

Furthermore, as we serve over 400 customers, our teams see the bigger picture and get a sense of what threats loom over the horizon. When our analysts identify a threat to one customer, they can check other customers to make sure they aren’t at risk from the same adversary.

Another key characteristic of next-generation MDR is proactive threat intelligence and threat hunting – our experts track down global threats and sector-specific threats to nullify them before they do any harm.

Our mission is to stay steps ahead of cybercriminals so that our customers can thrive in an inhospitable digital landscape.

In addition, our close collaboration with Microsoft and tight integration with its security tools means we can deliver more advanced features, quicker time-to-value, and help organisations maximise a return of investment from their existing Microsoft security licences.

It’s this deep expertise that led Quorum Cyber to win the Microsoft Security MSSP of the Year 2025 and reach the finals of both the Security Changemaker and the Data Security & Compliance Trailblazer awards

Transparency and real-time visibility

Customers are at the heart of everything we do. We pride ourselves in working with our customers, not ‘doing’ cyber security to them. That’s why our dedicated customer platform, Clarity, enables customers to see service status, incidents and how they’re being handled 24/7. We’re shaping the next generation of MDR to gain and retain our customers’ trust.
