Organisations’ defences must keep up with the constantly evolving stream of cyber threats being detected around the world. To make this challenge even tougher for defenders, advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) seem to have given cybercriminals an edge – for now.

But while pessimists might have cyber security professionals living in fear of an imminent, catastrophic AI-powered cyber-attack, what’s the reality? Do cybercriminals really have the advantage? How can the good guys use AI to protect their assets, data, customers, and employees from harm?

On 18th September 2024, tech expert, author, presenter, podcaster, and BBC investigative journalist Jamie Bartlett will discuss how AI is shaping the future of cyber security at ‘AI in Cyber Security: Navigating the Future’, streamed live from London.

Jamie has spent years researching how criminals operate and the psychological tricks they use to convince people to hand over data and money. As cybercriminals harness AI to launch more sophisticated attacks at an unprecedented scale, defenders must begin to leverage advanced AI tools, like Microsoft Copilot for Security, to counteract these threats.

A fireside chat

While much media attention has been given to how cybercriminals can use generative AI (GenAI) to fake images, voice, and video recordings, the truth is that AI has the power to disproportionately benefit cyber security professionals, not criminals.

The upcoming event in London will comprise a fireside chat between Jamie and experts from Microsoft and Quorum Cyber. Attendees, who can join in person or remotely, will learn all about the risks and opportunities AI presents in cyber security including current cyber threats, and how Microsoft Copilot for Security and Quorum Cyber’s services can give the advantage to defenders. “What you can do with AI from a security standpoint is more powerful than what the threat actors can do with it,” says Federico Charosky, CEO of Quorum Cyber, who joins the event’s line-up of expert speakers. “If we unlock that power, AI might give us the upper hand for the first time in a long time.”
