Overview

Australia has passed a law that grants police new powers to access domestic networks and online accounts in order to disrupt criminal networks. The government says the `Surveillance Legislation Amendment (Identify and Disrupt) Bill 2020` is intended for tackling darknet crime, but the language of the bill allows warrants to be applied to a much wider range of offences.

The power to access data and perform disruption activities in order to frustrate the commission of criminal activity.

Network Activity Warrants

Account Takeover Warrants

The power to take over an online account for the purpose of gathering evidence of criminal activity.
